9000 meetings
Since 2016 I've been working on scaling up Sanity.io - running technical teams, marketing, product, what have you. It's been hectic and we're in no way slowing down. Particularly 2020 and 2021 is mostly one long blur. A basement in Oakland. The old book smell of trees burning.
So I felt like it would be good to see where the time went. So that's what this is.
Clear blocks are reminders with no one attending. There are around 3000 of these. Then there are 9000 meetings. Blue for 1:1s. Blocks get bigger and more saturated the more people attend. We're remote first so every conversation is recorded in Google Calendar. The ICS file is massaged in Python: everything more than 3 hours or added by Reclaim is removed. Then it's baked into a particle system in Blender, animated with Geometry Nodes, and rendered in Cycles. Final 2K output was done on runpod.io on a whole bunch of RTX 4090s. Final composite and grade in After Effects - just a Kodak Portra LUT, bloom, and a bit of halation. Sonification was by MIDI export from Python to Ableton Live that I taught myself for this, along with Blender.
